About

The man
in the kitchen.

Cullen Wallace

"When I started posting my thoughts on social media several years ago, I never imagined I would still be doing it."

Cullen Wallace writes from his kitchen. Sometimes for one, sometimes for a houseful — always with music playing. Over the last several years, what began as a string of late-night reflections turned into something he never expected: a quiet, growing audience of readers who reach out when he goes a few days without posting, just to make sure he's okay.

His writing is rooted in the everyday. What's happening in his corner of the world. What he's working through. What he's making for dinner. And almost always, what's playing while he cooks.

The kitchen is where I find my peace. It doesn't matter if I'm cooking for one or a houseful — something about being in that space settles me.

Charlie.

A Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, almost always within arm's reach. Charlie has a way of reminding Cullen what actually matters — a good friend, a warm presence, someone who is purely glad you exist.

Chick.

Charles "Chick" Wallace was Cullen's father — a man who helped people simply because he could. The last sixteen months of his life, Cullen lived with him and cared for him. His passing left a hole that has only recently begun to heal.

I miss you, Pop.

The book.

It's Not About the Snow is the longer version of those late-night posts — the thinking behind them, the stories that didn't fit inside a caption. It is, in Cullen's words, for everyone still on the mountain, skiing through their own version of the snow.
